Part of the famous Mandrell family, Irlene Mandrell is talking to Str8hustlin’s Dick Darin and Stew. My first interaction with Irlene was about 30 years ago when she would play the drums at our local church. At that time, while having huge success, Irlene was still approachable and committed to her faith. Years later it is so cool to reminisce and discuss her playing drums at the Hendersonville Chapel, starring on the Mandrel sisters show, appearing on the TV classic Hee Haw, and the musical tradition she has passed down to her own children. Irelene is such a fantastic story teller, our conversation seemed like old friends catching up even though we were just acquaintances. Its no surprise she has been a spoke woman for so many companies and events over the years. Irlene is a avid shooter, firearms advocate and has done so much in support of the armed forces.
